Untitled edit

I balanced a set of italic-quotes in what I thought was an obvious way, but I have no method of verifying the information I added. The diff is between this and this version. grendel|khan 15:17, 2005 Mar 24 (UTC)

Why in the world is "The" capitalized? john k 00:38, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The correct name of the state is 'The Gambia' which is always capitalised as a result. Davewild 07:26, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, the name of the state including "the" does not always guarantee capitalization, but a search through google news reports suggests that in this case, "the" is normally capitalized, so I withdraw the challenge. john k 14:32, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Confusion with head of governement edit

There's been a lot of changes in the last week or so, and it seem to me there's a confusion between head of governement and head of state. Pierre Sarr N'Jie is listed here and presented as the first head of state of the Gambia, but he was only Prime minister back then, same as Dawda Jawara. They were head of governement, not head of State. It was only in 1970 with the country becoming independent that Elisabeth II stopped being the head of state, and Dawda Jawara was elected as the first president, and thus first head of state of the republic of The Gambia.--Aréat (talk) 15:17, 5 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
