This list it horribly unsorted. Perhaps it should be sorted according to religion and/or geography. // Liftarn

Listcruft

This list includes many, many festivals which do not have WP articles. This seems by definition Wikipedia:Listcruft. Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists)#Lists_of_people says this "Selected lists of people should be selected for importance/notability in that category and should have Wikipedia articles (or the reasonable expectation of an article in the future)." Working List

I do not agree with the notion that every list on Wikipedia should be merely a list of articles already on Wikipedia. In fact, under the definition of WP:Listcruft it states:

"7. The list has no content beyond links to other articles, so would be better implemented as a (self-maintaining) category."

I don't see the advantage of the list presently over the list you see when you click on the category "Neo-Pagan Festivals". However, I DO see an advantage of a more complete list including ALL Neo-Pagan Festivals/Events, including those no one has written an article about yet, as a resource both to the reader and the editor. I think a list should be complete via some other criteria and articles may follow later. But I'll leave that discussion for another time.

Here is a list of the deleted items, which can be used as a working list that editors may select from to write articles that can justify these events' inclusion in this list. I've begun adding links to sites where info on them can be found. (I must admit, several of them seem non-notable. Some, like Gnosticon, have historical relevance.)

"Midwest Witches Ball" (which is already on the above list) and "Midwest Witches Bazaar" appear to be the same event; at least, they link to the same website, and are both held in October in Detroit. Rosencomet (talk) 16:15, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

The above list is events that do NOT have their own Wikipedia article, and therefore are not considered notable enough to be on the Neo-Pagan Festivals & Events article. Both Heartland Pagan Festival and Pagan Pride Day HAVE their own articles and ARE on this article's list. Witchcamp does not have an article.

Perhaps someone will write an article for Witch's Ball, listing the various events by that name and (hopefully) their relationships, if any. Rosencomet (talk) 16:12, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Florida Pagan Gathering

I deleted the Florida Pagan Gathering listing, which was just a link to their website. That's already in the work list above. If someone wants to write an article about this event, the list should be linked to that article. Until then, it should remain off this list like all the other events with no Wiki article. Non-indicative Title

Should this, perhaps, be renamed "List of Neo-Pagan conferences and events"? I was expecting a list of the traditional festivals: the Quarter and Cross-Quarter days. --Proginoskes (talk) 19:11, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

• As long as there is a redirect from Neo-Pagan Festivals to this article, I would be OK with calling it simply Neo-Pagan Events. A conference is an event IMO. Rosencomet (talk) 19:28, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Utility of this list

Per my recent edit, it seems useful to include at least some external links within the list itself. Reviewing this talk page, I see this has been a point of disagreement in the past, but it's been several years since a non-bot posted here. Some potential considerations for improving this article:

• pairing redlinks together with external links in the main list: encouraging future articles without sacrificing current utility
• separating extant/ongoing events from those of strictly historical interest (e.g., Gnosticon)
• listing places/sanctuaries that regularly & reliably host pagan events throughout the year: while specific offerings might vary from one year to the next, listing the "site" precludes separate entries for Beltane, Solstice, Samhain, etc.
• striving for a worldwide view of the topic

@FULBERT: I'd nearly forgotten this "call" here, but I'm glad to have a co-conspirator! FWIW, I think I like the combination of redlink-with-external-link, at least for those events that appear to have some longevity (warranting their own article). Yet perhaps its somewhat uneven with the other (newer, less established) events being directly external-linked. It would be great to discuss pros/cons of this approach. I'm certainly open to any ideas that are Useful to the Average Reader (while being mindful of guidelines). The only "systematic" step I took was to review the substantial "Working List" section above; since most were migrated to this Talk Page in 2007 (with a few later additions), link rot was pretty widespread.
