sources and coi edit

Problematic--much of the article consists of primary sources, with long lists of publications. The remainder of the article is sparsely sourced. Appears to recently have undergone editing by the subject or affiliated accounts. Overall, unacceptable for a WP:BLP, and especially surprising for an article on a Nobel laureate. 76.248.149.47 (talk) 14:39, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

it has been stubbed and the very basic bare bones content, sourced and added. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:40, 23 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The recent edits were NOT made by Goldstein himself. They were made by a knowledgeable associate of Joseph Goldstein who used the UserName of josephlgoldstein. This apparently created a confusion that Goldstein himself was introducing edits. The edits that were made consisted mainly of removing a long list of research articles. This removal was suggested by an earlier Editor.

In my view, the current version is excellent and now includes the an update on Goldstein's many activities, including his Chairmanship of the Jury of the Lasker Medical Awards. Geraldsargeson (talk) 01:04, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Your view" is not supported by Wikipedia policies and practices. Please read WP:NPOV WP:NOT WP:V WP:RS to begin with. I have revert to the NPOV, reliably sourced version. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 01:35, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

In line with the comments of Anonymous209.6 on 25 October 2012, I would like to restore the following version: 19:27, 23 October 2012 Josephgoldstein. The new content in this version included: a new paragraph at the end of Biography relating to Dr. Goldstein's chairmanship of the Albert Lasker Medical Research Awards jury and his membership on the Boards of Trustees of the Rockefeller University and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The Awards section was expanded to include the major awards that Drs. Goldstein and Brown have received. The original Research Papers section, which included a list of more than 100 articles, was replaced by a section on Historical Papers which includes 4 key papers written by Goldstein and Brown that cover the highlights of their 40 year research career. A new section on Essays on "the Art of Science" was added to refer to the Nature Medicine articles that Dr. Goldstein has written in his role as chairman of the Lasker jury.

One other point to mention, I noticed that when one goes to Google and searches for Dr. Goldstein's site one notices that the right hand box on Google states that Dr. Goldstein died on February 13, 2009. This information, which is not on the Wikipedia site, appears to have been taken from the Wikipedia site since it has the same picture at the Wikipedia site and has his link to the Wikipedia site. Can you please correct this error. I can attest as a knowledgeable colleague of Dr. Goldstein's that he is alive and well. Thank you Josephgoldstein (talk) 14:15, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The previous version is not going to come back wholesale. This version contains content verified in reliable sources and presented in what seems to be a very neutral point of view (if there is anything that is inappropriately POV, please point it out), policies which the old version failed to meet. While you have presented your opinion, Wikipedia article content is based upon what the sources say.
More detailed response to your points:
1) The Lasker position is included, and the Rockefeller and HH can also be included if sourced, particularly if there are third party sources that covered those affiliations, showing that such positions have merited widespread notice and are not merely resume puffing content.
2) Calling out specific research papers can be included IF there is third party reliable sources provided who comment upon the importance and impact of those papers. Neither Wikipedia editors and the subject of the article are appropriate for determining what specific works should be singled out.
3) The essays on "Art and Science" may merit a mention, IF third party sources have noted them. Do you have third party sources that talk about them?
4) Wikipedia has no control over which version the googlesystems decide to hold as their cache. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 14:34, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have looked at several versions of the article dating back to 2009 and see none with any death date listed. What google is showing is aparently not related to anything actually in/on Wikipedia. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 14:56, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Additions edit

I work for Rubenstein Communications and per BLP rules, I'd like to make the following updates on behalf of Joseph L. Goldstein. Under "Life and career" section, add a sentence to the end of the fourth paragraph:
