Diffie's relationship with Liz Allison between 1993-94 edit

My research shows that Diffie was first contacted by Liz in advance of Davy Allison's funeral for the purpose of obtaining the sheet music to one of Diffie's hits. Diffie sang the song at the funeral and a friendship blossomed which led to their living together in Nashville. Diffie's wife had filed for a legal separation and was awarded a divorce in 1996. The way the narrative currently reads is that whomever wrote it has an ax to grind in order to make Joe and Liz appear to be doing something wrong. They weren't. Joe was legally separated and taking care of his wife and children and lived separate and apart from them while he was with Liz in a committed relationship, a relationship his wife was fully aware of. I think the narrative should be reworked to accurately reflect their relationship and to stop it from reading like a dime novel. Thanks for reading my thoughts. Parents' names? edit

Do we have anything more than just Diffie's father, Joe R? Peter Chastain [¡hablá!] 10:15, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Our father’s name was Joe Riley Diffie and mother’s name is Flora Diffie. MonStiles (talk) 11:41, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

About the birth name edit

According to Rolling Stone, Diffie's birth name was Joseph Logan Diffie. MonStiles (talk · contribs), a relatively new user, changed the birth name to Joe, contrary to the reliable source presented in the article. Rather than edit war, I'm opening up a discussion on the talk page to see which birth name we should use. Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:18, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I’m Joe’s sister. I know his name. MonStiles (talk) 09:00, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@MonStiles:, I'm sorry for your (and our) loss. Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, it falls under the heading of original research, something that we avoid on Wikipedia. We need a publicly available record (e.g., something based on vital statistics). I have seen citations to such things on Wikipedia but am not familiar with just how to find them. If I had a bit more time right now, I could search. Maybe someone can help? Peter Chastain [¡hablá!] 07:00, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
