Why?

According to the Israel Democracy Institute, approximately two thirds of Israeli Jews believe that Jews are the "chosen people".

It's a theologically vanilla claim, even for Christians who have read their Bible. I mean: for people who grew up in a Christian culture, it would be odd to think that Jews don't consider themselves to be the chosen people. You could argue that some people do think. But most people aren't trained to think. Hence their blunt stereotypes. tgeorgescu (talk) 23:53, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

most jews consider themselves chosen as like a passive thing (im jewish) and feel slightly guilty about it. the statement itself is not incorrect, but the way its shoehorned in makes me uncomfortable. Shrub4TheDub (talk) 23:51, 14 April 2024 (UTC)

Yup, I'm not a Jew halachically, nor by education, nor by conversion. But biblically (i.e. father decides the lineage), I might be Jewish. "Might", i.e. I might as well be Druze or Samaritan.
