False Statement

The statement "under the Patient's charter, every person in the United Kingdom has the right to the attendance of an ambulance in an emergency", is completely untrue. There is no statutory requirement for this. UK ambulance services routinely assess 999/112 emergency calls and can decide on an alternate pathway of care other than sending an ambulance. This may occur at any time in the process including from the initial call over the telephone without an ambulance ever being dispatched.
