GA? edit

Hello, all. I am thinking about taking this article to GA. A good example for a GA-class country music article is Willie Nelson. I think the lead should be expanded to three-four paragraphs and the article needs to be thoroughly expanded upon. All are welcome to assist in this process and if anyone has any other thoughts, please post here. Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 02:29, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

This article is woefully under sourced and poorly written, no offense. --Malerooster (talk) 02:36, 11 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I reverted to an earlier version before a tom of unsourced material was added. Could anybody help improve the article with reliable sources going forward? This article is still in terrible shape. --Malerooster (talk) 02:43, 11 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Jones is one of the great figures in post-WWII country music, and this article does his biography a disservice. It is very poorly written, not for lack of effort but for lack of format and content presentation. For what is required in terms of citations, info, and tone, see pages on Bob Dylan or Pink Floyd as templates on how to do it right, or any music biography page that has been a featured article. Starday 1962 edit

George Jones Sings His Greatest Hits (Starday 1962).. is this an alternative name for one of the other 1962 albums or a separate release? In ictu oculi (talk) 02:08, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Total Sales? edit

One might expect to see a total number of records or anything at all about how many records the guy sold. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.118.249.4 (talk) 05:47, 9 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tammy Wynette image caption edit

The original image caption identified the image as being taken on the set of The Johnny Cash Show in 1977, which is impossible as the series ended in 1971. (And it wouldn't have been "the set" anyway it would have been the Ryman Auditorium.) Wynette did not look like this in 1970 when she did appear so this must have come from another production, perhaps one of Cash's annual Christmas specials? 68.146.52.234 (talk) 17:43, 30 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

This is actually a pretty good article, with the exception of the lede. Seems like rather than promotional terms and marriage failures, Jones' 77 top 10 singles and two Grammy Awards might be more appropriate.[1] The Tammy Wynette duets are probably notable enough for the lede, and perhaps close the section with the "No Show Jones" label. After a decent lede is written, the "references needed" banner could be changed to section banners, or inline. Some sections appear to be fairly well sourced. Anyway, not my genre, nor do I really know the history, but Jones deserves a better article than this. Anybody reading this talk page? 009o9 (talk) 07:23, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

George Jones hated singing "He stopped loving her today", but he was under contract to the song. edit

He was a great singer. 38.114.97.73 (talk) 14:53, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
