On this page his daughter is given as Mary Lucy Margret: but on GB's wife Mary's page and also Charles Howard Hinton's page she appears as Mary Ellen. Which is correct? Jackiespeel (talk) 23:04, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's not exactly easy to see " Mary Lucy Margret" on the pdf source, of The Washington Times front page, is it. But she is described in that column, only as "Mrs Mary Hinton"? Martinevans123 (talk) 23:19, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Here [1] gives Mary Ellen Hinton: given the other WP pages go for this version are further sources needed to change her name here? Jackiespeel (talk) 10:35, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I would have thought a family tree at georgeboole.com trumps the existing source for Mary here. The circumstances of her death may themselves be notable, of course, as might its appearance on the front page of The Washington Times, but that's a separate issue. Changed: and sometimes even a notable newspaper wants to fill a space on its front page. Jackiespeel (talk) 22:23, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Would it be wise to swap the source? Is an extra mention needed of Mary's death? Martinevans123 (talk) 22:33, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Does the article actually mention her middle names? Jackiespeel (talk) 22:49, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
The Boole family seem to have been more interesting than many. Jackiespeel (talk) 10:19, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, The Washington Times article calls her simply Mary. I'm suggesting swapping it with the family tree source, so that her full name appears consistently, and correctly, across all articles. I have now swapped the sources as suggested. Please adjust further or revert if required. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:19, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Is it worth 'tracking back' to see when the middle names were added and where the information came from? Jackiespeel (talk) 13:42, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I won't try and stop you! But I'm guessing that this was a case of simple confusion with the names of the other two daughters who were called Lucy and Margaret. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:16, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Probably so - and stranger things have happened on Wikipedia (see the history of the Boris Skossyreff article). Jackiespeel (talk) 23:18, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
