World Perspective edit

This article needs to be broadened to cover more than England/Britain.
France, Russia and The Holy Roman Empire --> Austria all had courtiers with this title. Also, there needs to be a better description of what the duties of the post actually were. Reading the article, one might think that it was a servant's position, but obviously helping the King get dressed was hardly the job description since high-ranking noblemen -- dukes and earls, held the title. If the nominal duties of the position were at variance with the actual role of the person who held the title, then the article should say so.--Plamoa (talk) 02:05, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

List Clean-up edit

I've tagged this article for clean-up since it it is mainly lists, and does not include enough information about the topic itself. Also, as noted above, this article would benefit from a world-wide perspective. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:26, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal edit

I propose to merge Lord of the Bedchamber into this article,Gentleman of the Bedchamber. Although, as pointed out in the Lord of the Bedchamber article, that the Gentleman of the Bedchamber became known as that from 1718, this can be covered in one article, making clear the change of name which occurred in 1718. Whilst the first article starts in 1718, this covers this article covers the whole period of the Gentleman/Lord of the Bedchamber and inaccurately does not refer tho people who held the office as Gentleman of the Bedchamber from 1718 onwards. Therefore, I think the Lord of the Bedchamber article should be merged with this one. DukeLondon (talk) 19:08, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
