Unsourced section regarding effects of nuclear testing edit

I've commented out a large section from the History section of the article, pending citation or sourcing, either here or in the article itself. Tomertalk 00:44, 7 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Conseil du Scoutisme polynésien edit

Can someone render "Conseil du Scoutisme polynésien" and "Be Prepared", the Scout Motto, into Tahitian? Thanks! Chris 14:48, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

User ty edit

I have looked at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedians_by_language . It would appear that there are no templates like {{User ty}}, {{User ty-3}} for Tahitian. :( Chris 06:53, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

'Effects of French nuclear testing on the Gambiers' section edit

I put the section as being of questionable neutrality and fact because of the unverifiable nature of the allegations made, and their semblances to suggestions of a conspiracy. Wikipedia deals in fact, and this section gives a lot of hearsay and speculation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.250.40.87 (talk) 08:16, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm the person who put that information into the article. Please consider keeping this information. I personally witnessed the facts described. I am not drawing conclusions from those facts, which would be conspiracy theory. Normally, only mainstream media should be sourced for facts on Wikipedia. But the French Government has controlled most access to this island for a long time. The only ways to get to this island are via a national freight/cargo ship, a national air flight or by private yacht. As a result, mainstream media is generally unable to even visit the place. Where possible, I have clearly cited mainstream media to corroborate what I learned while living there for 7 months. Please contact me before removing the information or discuss on this page so that we can find a way to make sure that the significant information is represented. Earlier European contact edit

Article should mention additional info mentioned in the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Wilson_(explorer)

Also, at brittanica.com it claims the name came from "Capt. James Wilson of the missionary ship Duff sighted (1797) and named the Mangareva cluster for Adm. James Gambier." It's not clear whether this is the first European contact or just the naming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silversplash (talkcontribs) 17:50, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Re adding the gallery edit

I see no reason why the gallery should be deleted. The 3-reverts rule has been reached and the concerned user doesn't want to talk. Can I have other confirmed users opinion ? Regards, CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 14:30, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

See WP:IG. What aspect of the topic do you think needs to be illustrated by a gallery? 46.208.236.175 (talk) 14:50, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
I don't know, maybe the fact that we don't know what the islands look like on its primary article ? CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 14:58, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Are you unable to see the image that shows that? What aspect of the topic do you think a gallery is required to illustrate? 46.208.236.175 (talk) 15:04, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • 46.208.236.175, I strongly encourage you to stop editting using IP addresses, and to create a single named wiki-ID, and then always use that.
  • Merely waving at WP:IG is insufficient. Galleries are used in contexts like this. Geo Swan (talk) 15:26, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Once again: galleries are used to illustrate an aspect of the topic that normal illustration of the article cannot. What aspect do you think needs illustrating with a gallery? 46.208.236.175 (talk) 16:47, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • The gallery illustrates that the Islands are beautiful, let's readers decide for themselves whether the Islands are beautiful. Merely stating that travelogs say the Islands are beautiful is not an adequate substitute for illustration. Geo Swan (talk) 12:49, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
