Senate

edit

Hello, as the official name is First Chamber, I'd prefer to use that name as the lemma, as all other language versions seem to do. Ziko (talk) 18:52, 12 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I agree, I am Dutch and have never but once or twice heard a fellow Dutchman use the term "Senate" to describe the First Chamber. This article seems to insinuate everyone calls it the Senate. KarstenO (talk) 18:11, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, I have no opinion on whether to move to First Chamber (if that translation is in common use, we can use it, but I didn't investigate). But the word senate is at least in common use in NL.. Examples in october 2014: here, here and here. L.tak (talk) 18:33, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Eligibility

edit

Perhaps there should be a sentence in the 'membership' section on eligibility. Who is eligible to stand for elections to the Senate? Is it any eligible elector/voters or are there other qualifications? How often are sitting provincial councillers candidates for the Senate? Criticalthinker (talk) 09:52, 6 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
