I don't understand why the Annual Reviews (PMID 29727594) reference is being removed from the statement "Chronically, the rise in FGF21 expression in the liver may protect against liver damage." The source clearly states Importantly, pharmacological administration of FGF21 for 5 days to wild-type mice that were chronically fed alcohol significantly attenuated hepatic steatosis and liver injury (83).
