Talk:Dublin Suburban Rail

Latest comment: 1 year ago by Oscyk in topic South Eastern Commuter

Maybe a simple map, such as the one shown here (see last page - page 41) but the current situation, showing the DART and Luas lines aswell(with their stations), would improve the quality of the article. The map seems based on the London Underground map. Jvlm.123 18:06, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

All modern rail maps are based on the original Underground map Suckindiesel 23:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've added the New Map Now, but it may need some further editing. Stabilo boss (talk) 12:02, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Or in Irish edit

Not that I want to seem anti-Irish langauge or anything, but I'm not sure the Irish names placed here should be in the article - the DART is never branded anything other than "DART" these days (even Dublin Area Rapid Transit has been airbrushed from the carriges with the most recent repaint and I've never seen anything other than "Commuter" on the DMUs since the Arrow brand disappeared. Has anyone seen these names actually being used? --Rdd 20:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to revert these recent Irish translations. DART is the brand name for the service, not MAC (presumably an abbreviation of Mearlíne Átha Cliath) Similarly the service isn't known as, or called by, its Irish name Suckindiesel 23:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sligo line edit

Details of Sligo line services outside of the DART/Commuter system (ie west of Longford) do not belong in this article as they are InterCity services. If we include them, then for consistancy we need to include nearly every InterCity service in the country since most of them operate over the Dublin network at some point. I have therefore removed details of Sligo line services. Rdd (talk) 21:22, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

South Eastern Commuter edit

I don't believe the South Eastern Commuter service exists - yes, one train a day makes the northbound journey from Gorey to Dublin Connolly which could be seen as a Commuter service, however in all up-to-date cases, it is referred to as an InterCity service. Additionally, one train per day should not constitute a full Commuter service. I believe that the South Eastern Commuter should be removed from this article. I would love to hear some other opinions.
