Talk:Dancing with the Stars (American TV series) season 9

Possible Contestants edit

Since we don't have any definites for the next season, it seems like all we have is speculation about who'll be on the show. As a reminder, we need reliable sources for any information added. Dayewalker (talk) 18:49, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just to let you know that Brooke Burke was NOT on Conan July 20th. The information is WRONG. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.234.215.58 (talk) 16:58, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've already removed it. Somebody thought they were being funny, most likely.--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 18:26, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Someone is making thier own personal predicition table again. Should we lock the page until the announcement so no one makes their own person assumptions until we absolutely know? I'd look into it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.2.230.69 (talk) 20:12, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Semiprotection edit

The page has been semiprotected, since anonymous IPs were adding tons of unsourced speculation about which dancer would be paired with which celebrity. If any IPs come to this page to add information, please add it here with the proper sourcing, and we can move it into the article.

Also, the article currently indicates that Cheryl Burke will be dancing with Tom Delay, but there's no source on that. Does anyone have the source? Dayewalker (talk) 01:54, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dances edit

I have some issues with the listed dances section. The link listed for Kelly and Louis' line is to Louis' twitter and he says that their first dance is "Our first solo dance is a ballroom dance. The dance originating in the capital of Austria." implying that it is the Viennese Waltz, not the regular ballroom Waltz. Also, the link on Donny and Kym's line is to an article where Donny says his first dance is the Foxtrot, not the second. Maybe since we know they're switching things up this season (I have no idea what the whole 'relay dance' thing is about), there will be more than two different dances each week? Onesmallnote (talk) 17:51, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

look, don't think the dances of weeks 2, 3 and 4 are right. Derek spoke about it, but he was just kidding...

Daniel Radcliffe? edit

According to the ABC site [1] Tom Delay is still Cheryl's partner. Can we have verification on Daniel? -- Yekrats (talk) 23:22, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's been fixed now... thank you. -- Yekrats (talk) 23:38, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Future Dances edit

I say we shouldn't add a couples dances for the next 3 weeks until we know they are going to be there to perform them, therefor, Joanna & Derek's Jive, Tango, and Lombada (and Louie & Chelsie's Jive) should be taken off the dance chart until further notice.

ratings? edit

Lets place the ratings in the article, episode 1 attracted 17.5 million. --Cooly123 01:30, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Scoring table edit

Two comments here:

(1) Rowspan breaks sortable tables. If you want the table to be sortable, you have to have an entry for each row. (2) Traditionally—and this is talking about essentially all events—ties are indicated by giving everyone the highest rank. So, the first two couples eliminated would be tied for 15th, not "15/16." Samer (talk) 03:07, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Average Chart edit

I have issue with the average chart. Because the relay dance was so different as far as scoring, shouldn't we just leave it off? It just seems weird to me that there are half-points. I mean, I get why somebody did it, but "28.5" points just seems odd. Does anyone else agree? Onesmallnote (talk) 21:41, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually, if you want to count the relay dance, then the proper adjustment is to triple the relay score, so that it counts 30 points, the same as every other dance. Alternatively, you could simply count it as 1/3 of a dance, and divide the current totals by 4/3 instead of by 2. Samer (talk) 02:57, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I thought of that last night after I posted it. 10 would be 30, 8 - 24, 6 - 18, and 4 - 12. I'm going to change it and direct those who question it here. Onesmallnote (talk) 18:42, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Do the total scores count for the relay dances or not? MSalmon (talk) 10:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Chelsie and Louie edit

I placed light green background because the notation says that that color indicates the last couple to be called safe and they may or may not have been in the bottom two OR THREE so thought they should have light green. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.129.6.213 (talk) 03:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Scoring & Elimination Table Is Misleading edit

Why did people change the table? For every week except for the first week, the week with five couples left, and the semifinals week, the couple that was the last to be saved was EXPRESSLY announced as being in the bottom 2. In fact, in the weeks when Louie Vito and Mark Dacascos left in double eliminations, it was because they were in the bottom 3 with Michael Irvin and Aaron Carter, who won the dance-offs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.197.101.209 (talk) 00:19, 13 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Call-out order edit

There is something very wrong with the table but I don't know what the correct information is nor how to fix it. There is information in there for week 3 (which only started 30 minutes ago) and week 4 (which hasn't even started yet). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.29.106.78 (talk) 00:32, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tom DeLay Withdrawal edit

Tom is said to quit DWTS. SAID TO, not actually confirmed. His status should remain as Participating until otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.2.230.69 (talk) 00:09, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Order of finish/elimination edit

If two contestants are eliminated in the same episode, and the show doesn't specify that one of them finished "ahead" of the other (i.e., it doesn't say X was 5th, and Y was 4th), then they should be listed as the same rank. Otherwise, you have the rather absurd result that, for example, the exact timing of Tom DeLay's announcement determines whether he finished 12th or 13th. Samer (talk) 14:49, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Didn't the announcement of Tom DeLay withdrawing come AFTER Debi Mazar was eliminated? I remember they advertised it like Tom would be making a special announcement as to whether he would be returning after his foot injury, but they still decided to proceed with an ordinary elimination, and in doing so, Tom was initially announced as safe due to the public's votes. Debi was in the real bottom 2 with Michael Irvin and, if I remember correctly, she was eliminated before Tom officially announced his withdrawal. So Tom should be ranked higher than Debi, as I believe he used to be on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.197.101.209 (talk) 00:13, 13 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Background colors edit

I've posted this notice on other DWTS lists in the past. The background colors you are using may not meet standards outlined at WP:ACCESS and Wikipedia:Colours#Using colours in articles. In fact, it presents legibility problems for people with various forms of colorblindness [2] [3] [4] [5]. This issue really needs to be addressed immediately. Some portions of the tables are not legible at all to persons who are colorblind. Wildhartlivie (talk) 23:19, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Couples table edit

Do we really need to say what day each couple is elimiated on because on Strictly Come Dancing they don't have that? MSalmon (talk) 15:02, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

Shakira will perform on the Oct 13th results show. The new Bacholer will be announced too on the same night. --Cooly123 01:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Derek Hough edit

An article on RealityTV World says that Derek has been sidelined because of the flu. Should we note this in the notes section. 24.88.86.28 (talk) 01:26, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Call Out Order table colours edit

Vandalism edit

Am I the only who seems to be removing vandalism on this page? MSalmon (talk) 17:14, 24 October 2009 (UTC) _______ um.. Kelly's occupation is "Your Mother" i'm sure that's not the correct info in there. ~dr —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.77.97.3 (talk) 00:26, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

November 2-3 edit

This week Nov 2nd the celebrities will be designing the costumes for their professional partners, this should be noted.--Cooly123 01:42, 30 October 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs)

Semi Protection edit

Is there any way this page can be semi protected from IP's who vandalise this page, because I don't know how to do it? MSalmon (talk) 21:25, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Only certain people can semi-protect pages. I hope somebody will, because I hate having to keep deleting vandalism. Yes, I'm helping with that, too. Onesmallnote (talk) 21:29, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ok thanks, I don't like having to constantly delete vandalism from this page aswell MSalmon (talk) 21:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Music Question edit

On the list of music for week 9. I don't think Madonna or Barry Manilow were the singers on the versions during the dances, is that common for them not to get permission from the artists? Do we still list the original artist or what? --Mjrmtg (talk) 15:39, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Even though it was the DWTS singers singing the songs, it's best we link to the original artist of the song. I don't know if they get permission to sing the songs though. Mokoniki | talk 20:48, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Question about the Professional Dancers edit

On the list at the bottom of the page of who has been the celebrity runner-up for season 9, Mya is listed, but not her partner Dmitry Chaplin. This was just announced tonight. 23:47, 24 November 2009

I added him in. Mokoniki | talk 13:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit request from King1559, 20 November 2011 edit

{{edit semi-protected}}

Hello! If possible, I would like to make constructive changes to Dancing with the Stars, season 9. Specifically, I wanted to make some changes in the very first couples chart. I would just like to change the occupations for the contestant because they lack links and are not the correct identifications detailed in the show. This is what I had wished for the table to look like:
