Programs edit

I finally worked on the List of programs broadcast by Create page last Tuesday. Could someone please put up articles of people and shows on Create? [User: Nate Speed] 2007

Network vs Channel edit

A network is a system of connected nodes. ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX are all networks of local broadcasters, who are generally free to show other programming, such as an important local news story, or to decline carriage of a show they find unacceptable for reason of content.

Most cable channels are NOT networks. There is one, count 'em, one program sent out by the channel, and cable companies act as CATV - community antenna television - utilities.

I realize that many cable channels use "network" in their name, such as CNN and ESPN, but that's like Pennsylvania calling itself a commonwealth. They are really a state, and even the state constitution refers to elected *state* officials, and Jerry Sandusky's source of fresh meat is NOT called "Penn Commonwealth University."

When not part of a title, the word "network" should be reserved for actual networks (and Create IS one) and "channel" used for other cable content providers. 2601:D:A380:C9:1D54:2D36:C0EA:5614 (talk) 09:52, 1 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Independent edit

@Jessicapierce:, I am not sure how you consider this sentence to not make sense: "Some were taking a channel independent." Independent station (North America) doesn't carry a network. Since a station now has multiple channel it doesn't make sense to say "independent station" unless the whole station is programmed independently. The next sentence gives an example of this occurring with WETA: " A well known station, WETA, dropped Create on its .2 channel for an independent how-to channel in January 2012." Thanks for your reply. The grammar of that sentence still doesn't sit well with me. I'm restoring it in the text, but if you could add anything that makes its meaning a bit more clear, that would be great.Jessicapierce (talk) 17:42, 13 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Jessicapierce:, OK, I took a shoot a rewrite, give me some feedback if you would. Spshu (talk) 21:32, 13 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
That makes a great deal more sense now. Thank you for taking the time to do that! Jessicapierce (talk) 22:00, 13 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
