Extreme power metal edit

Why not just put extreme power metal instead of just power metal? would that make everyone happy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.112.177.129 (talk) 19:16, 8 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

How would that make anyone happy? The term "extreme power metal" was a term invented by DragonForce and is not even a real genre. Not to mention, CoB are much heavier than DragonForce as they part power metal with melodic death metal. • GunMetal Angel 19:18, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not about making everyone happy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.181.140.88 (talk) 17:58, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Neo-classical (early material) edit

Notably the album "Something Wild." A lot of very classical-sounding riffs and licks, and even a few Mozart tributes. Ehh? Who's with me! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.227.230.232 (talk) 18:39, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Similarly-named upcoming 2011 album edit

British metal band, Asking Alexandria's 2011 full-length is going to be titled Reckless and Relentless, while Children of Bodom's 2011 album is going to be titled Relentless Reckless Forever. We may need a distinction between these two articles when they are made. • GunMetal Angel 19:16, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm confused, why would there need to be a distinction? Both titles are distinct enough as it is. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 23:52, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I mean adding in a distinguish hatnote at the top of each article (i.e: "not to be confused with ——"). • GunMetal Angel 03:59, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't believe that is needed, especially without evidence that anyone is getting the two titles mixed up. They are both sufficiently different enough that I don't foresee a problem, either. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 06:32, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

It was generally a suggestion. • GunMetal Angel 07:03, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I understood. I'm glad you brought it up, and if it does end up confusing anyone, then there will be a legitimate need. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:55, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Genre section edit

I think it shouldn't just be melodic death metal, power metal. Melodic death metal is their primary genre, power metal isn't anymore... it's adventitious, just like black metal, and neo-classical metal, which isn't put in the genre section. it should eater be like:

Genres: Melodic death metal or Genres: Melodic death metal, power metal, black metal, neo-classical metal — Preceding unsigned comment added by ETFFAN123 (talkcontribs) 21:04, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

An edit made by myself yesterday was undone, and the reviewing author referred to my contribution as "crap". It is my humble opinion that this violates the law that all interaction between Wikipedia members be civil. Regardless, the matter at hand is that the source used was Metal-Archives.com, /the/ authoritative reference for metal bands. At the page corresponding to the band in question, their genre is listed as "melodic death/power metal" - thus, I request the more frequent contributors to this band's article to take this into account. Does my edit stand? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.23.235.228 (talk) 13:31, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

THEY ARE NOT A POWER METAL BAND!! edit

They are a melodic death metal band! Gamma ray and Hammerfall are power metal bands, but CoB is not a power metal band!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.224.156.58 (talk) 15:49, 16 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Name Origin edit

I was just reading about the child murders at Lake Bodom near Helsinki in 1960, and I can't help but thinking it's not a coincidence. Does anybody have any information or statements made by members of the band about the origin of the name of the band? I think it would be a very interesting addition this page.

Here is the link to what I was just reading. The Lake Bodom Murders is the second one down: http://wikipicks.blogspot.com/2011/10/remain-unsolved-murders.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kire1975 (talkcontribs) 15:55, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

You mean beyond what's already mentioned in the formation section of the article? —C.Fred (talk) 16:07, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
The formation section is a wall of text. I just read it again and I saw nothing about the origin of the name. Kire1975 (talk) 05:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Last paragraph of the section. "When they stumbled upon Lake Bodom, they realized that it was a name with impact and one which had an interesting story behind it. A long list of possible names involving the word Bodom was then made, and they settled with Children of Bodom. The band's name is derived from the Lake Bodom murders." COBHC.com FAQs cited as source. —C.Fred (talk) 23:45, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Symphonic Black Metal edit

I think this genre should be added because in their official website they say "Finnish black metal band; includes news, biographies, pictures, discography, videos and reviews." and because they use keyboards in their music, so I'll add that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.10.138.33 (talk) 14:25, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Chip-on-board edit request edit

I'd like to ask for this article to be edited so that when a person arrives here after typing "CoB" in the search box he/ she will also be shown "CoB redirects here. For the chip-on-board microchip technology, see Electronic_packaging#Glop-top.". CoB is a common abbreviation for chip-on-board, and the redirect does not make this clear to the reader. Please fix. Also, I have no conflict of interest here. I just don't wish to be suspected of making any direct edits to any articles for the time being. Thanks. KDS4444 (talk) 08:51, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Honestly, I'm not convinced that there is a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "CoB." There are many organizations that could conceivably claim the abbreviation, including Company of Biologists, Church of the Brethren, Chief of the Boat, and the aforementioned Children of Bodom. COB redirects to the disambiguation page Cob, and CoB used to point to the disambiguation page also. It is time to return CoB to that proper status. Altamel (talk) 22:24, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
