Example needed edit

I agree … so I've just added one :-} -- Niels Grundtvig Nielsen (talk) 14:44, 11 September 2015 (GMT+2, Brussels)

Hi. Thanks for the example! For future reference, though, a couple requests:
  1. Please wrap any code you add in one of the following two tags (or an equivalent template):
    • <syntaxhighlight lang="foo">...</syntaxhighlight> (without the nowiki tags I used in this comment), for code written in a language named "foo" ("xml" here); or
    • <pre>...</pre>, if you either don't know what lang attribute to use, or there is no support for the real language, or it's pseudocode, or...
  2. This is more minor, but also: please add new comments on talk pages directly below any comments you may be responding to (or in a new section at the bottom if not responding to anyone), not above them as you did here.
As I'm sure you saw if you previewed before saving (also not a bad idea, btw), the way you put the code without any special markup looked awful. (But again, thank you anyway! Awful-looking is often much easier to fix than non-existent! And I know not everyone's an expert on wiki markup; honestly, it took some digging for me to find the docs on syntax highlighting and the formatting for this comment too. So in case it needs to be said, don't feel bad about any of this, I'm just trying to help too. :) BlueGuy213 (talk) 21:12, 26 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and one other thing: as you can see, I added an "Example" section header above the code too, which would be a good idea too (unless it's already in an Examples section). BlueGuy213 (talk) 21:24, 26 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

A sample snippet of code would be incredibly illuminating. -- Beland (talk) 18:29, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

+1. And I wish I could find an "Examples needed" equivalent to Template:Image requested. The whole Template:Examples family of things baffles me. (Possibly because there's a total lack of documentation... and I don't know who to ask about that.) —sburke@cpan.org (talk) 18:10, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
