433 Eros has a lower number than 1221 Amor, so it was discovered earlier. But, that contradicts the article (saying that 1221 Amor was the first Amor asteroid to be discovered and that Eros is an Amor asteroid). What's up with that? --- hike395 02:02, 22 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Use of "from the inside" or "from the outside"

Given that we're talking intersecting ellipses, isn't it incorrect to use the terms 'from the inside' or 'from the outside'? By their geometric definition, when two ellipses intersect--and cross--they'll both be 'outside' at some point and they'll both be 'inside' at some point. Can I take out these terms? JPL vs. MPC lists

Using the appropriate on-page links, I have found that two objects listed here as Amors, 3671 Dionysus and 65803 Didymos, are listed as Amors by MPC, but are not listed as such by the JPL Small-body database. The on-Wiki page for Didymos identifies it as an Apollo, and the perihelion value suggests that characterization is correct (by about 450,000 km). My question is: Which source should be used here for asteroid (and other object) classification, MPC or JPL? JoJo Anthrax (talk) 10:48, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Populations section - apparent OR

The "Populations" section of this article dates to 2004, and was added by User:Youknowandy, who has made no edits to enWiki in over eight years. Although the presented classification schemes are interesting, the entire section is unsourced, and I have been unable to find any independent, reliable sources that utilize, or refer to in any way, these classification schemes. The section is thus likely to be derived entirely from original research (OR), and is thus inappropriate for a WP article. Unless I hear otherwise - that is, unless someone can find, and add, RS for this material - I will remove this section within the next few days. Thanks. I have made the revision described above, along with other edits to the Population section. I have been unable to find any RS supporting the removed content (and a fair argument can be made that more content merits removal, being apparently derived from OR), but please restore the content if RS can be found.
