Hi All,

I work here at Action for Children (based in the UK) we really want to ensure that this page is relevant and has useful information on it, I understand there has been some issues with previous edits. I would like to work with all of you in wikipedia that are interested in getting this page up to scratch, Action for Children has a wealth of good information in our heritage archive and would like to engage with the likes of you to present some of this to the general public as well as clear up any misunderstandings that have been caused by previous updates to this page.

Please let us know how we can help.

Darren, it is not a good idea for you to edit the article as there would be a Conflict of Interest. I don't mean to be mean but please do not edit the page. Sungodtemple (talk) 01:36, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Let's improve this page - can you help? edit

Quite a lot of work needs to be done to improve this page as it currently falls short of the Wikipedia Style guidelines. Recently changes have been made to the page without any discussion here, let's change that starting now. If you are interested in contributing to this article please can you introduce yourself properly here giving a clear idea of what you feel you can contribute, if you have comments to make about the content of the page, please do so in here in 'Talk'. I apologise in advance to Cowplopmorris for removing 2 entries which were out of date.

Conflict of Interest edit

Hi, I've tagged this article as a Conflict of Interest as I believe certain people affiliated with Action for Children have been editing the article. It no longer maintains a fully neutral point of view and is bordering on becoming promotional. I will edit the article to try and make it less so, but please help out if you can. Please remove the tag once it is neutral again. Thanks. -- CowplopmorrisTalkContribs 18:50, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

A quick Google search on one of the major contributors confirmed that the individual is employed by Action for Children, and therefore in COI position. I've left a warning on the user's talk page. --Drm310 (talk) 15:19, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

History edit

The History section contains a very close paraphrase of the Action for Childrens history page [1]. As such its really a Wikipedia:Copyright problems.--Salix (talk): 08:02, 8 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Remove this page edit

I think that this article has been helpfully flagged as, indeed, it doesn't present all of the facts. For example, many individuals either in-care with AFC or adopted through AFC found difficulty in accessing their own files, with social workers seemingly putting up many barriers to appropriate access. This was reported in The Guardian. There is also no mention that one of their previous 'Principal' officers or Chief Executive was found to have accessed records illegally and (for reasons of his own) had met those individuals that have given a child up for adoption without informing the adopted child. Unfortunately, AFC have never recognised such poor practice. Despite the Principal or Chief Executive being disciplined by his own church, AFC allowed him to leave all Trustee posts under his own cogniscence. Similarly, 'historically', AFC were also part of the somewhat appalling practice of sending children to the 'colonies' (Australia, New Zealand, Canada) where many were abused. Again, there is no mention of this and again, no apology was made. I would argue that this page should be removed. As it stands as mere advertising. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randomised Trial (talkcontribs) 14:03, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

My Best Friends edit

If I remember correctly, there was a VHS released in partnership with the NCH called "My Best Friends", which included episodes of various children's programmes on it. Anybody remember that? I do... Visokor (talk) 10:16, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
