Brackets edit

Looks pretty good after the last revision. I'm not sure I agree with the three playoff brackets being removed, though. -- ArglebargleIV 13:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I decided to add the crosstables for each of the pools back -- it's a nice summary of the pool results. -- ArglebargleIV 17:41, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The team members are now available through hidden sections. -- ArglebargleIV 18:13, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Possible playoff bracket templates edit

These are the two possible playoff brackets that can be included in this (and other qualifier) pages.

This is the (simpler) bracket currently used in the 2006 World Cup article :

Semi-finalsFinal

May 4, 2006

  Japan 0 (0)

May 6, 2006

  South Korea 1 (0)

  South Korea 1 (0)

May 4, 2006

  England 2 (0)

  United States 0 (0)

  England 1 (0)

Third place

May 6, 2006

  Japan 4 (2)

  United States 1 (1)

This is a bracket that I modified from another one. It has the same information, but is a more compact, and clearly lists the pool positions that the teams came from.

{{4TeamBracket-2-groups-medals
  |semi-date = May 4, 2006
  |final-date = May 6, 2006

  |pool-a-name = Pool A
  |pool-b-name = Pool B

  |top-position-name = 1st
  |next-position-name = 2nd

  |final-match-name = First Place Match
  |consolation-match-name = Third Place Match

  |pool-a-second = {{fhw|JPN}}
  |pool-a-second-score = 0 (0)
  |pool-b-first = '''{{fhw|KOR}}'''
  |pool-b-first-score = '''1 (0)'''
  |pool-b-second = {{fhw|USA}}
  |pool-b-second-score = 0 (0)
  |pool-a-first = '''{{fhw|ENG}}'''
  |pool-a-first-score = '''1 (0)'''

  |f-team-top = {{fhw|KOR}}
  |f-score-top = 1 (0)
  |f-team-bot = '''{{fhw|ENG}}'''
  |f-score-bot = '''2 (0)'''

  |bronze-team-top = '''{{fhw|JPN}}'''
  |bronze-score-top = '''4 (2)'''
  |bronze-team-bot = {{fhw|USA}}
  |bronze-score-bot = 1 (1)
 }}

This one also has the advantage that it has enough parameters so that it can be used for other brackets than the top-level -- it is easily used for the fifth-through-eighth and ninth-through-twelfth playoffs as well :

{{4TeamBracket-2-groups-medals
  |semi-date = May 4, 2006
  |final-date = May 5, 2006

  |pool-a-name = Pool A
  |pool-b-name = Pool B

  |top-position-name = 5th
  |next-position-name = 6th

  |final-match-name = Ninth Place Match
  |consolation-match-name = Eleventh Place Match

  |pool-a-second = '''{{fhw|SCO}}'''
  |pool-a-second-score = '''5 (3)'''
  |pool-b-first = {{fhw|ITA}}
  |pool-b-first-score = 1 (0)
  |pool-b-second = '''{{fhw|AZE}}'''
  |pool-b-second-score = '''4 (1)'''
  |pool-a-first = {{fhw|UKR}}
  |pool-a-first-score = 1 (1)

  |f-team-top = {{fhw|SCO}}
  |f-score-top = 2 (1)
  |f-team-bot = '''{{fhw|AZE}}'''
  |f-score-bot = '''3 (1)'''

  |bronze-team-top = {{fhw|ITA}}
  |bronze-score-top = 0 (0)
  |bronze-team-bot = '''{{fhw|UKR}}'''
  |bronze-score-bot = '''5 (0)'''
 }}
I prefer for simple one, because not confusing anyway, and easy. Cheers --Aleenf1 02:35, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ah. but the simple one can't be used for the 5th-8th and 9th-12th sections, though, it is hardcoded for first through fourth only. -- ArglebargleIV 05:00, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
