TV 2 Nyhetskanalen (TV 2 News Channel) is a Norwegian language television news channel which started broadcasting on 15 January 2007. It is Norway's first national news network in Norwegian, although Nyhetskanalen did exist from 1997 to 1998.

Its main office is located in Bergen.

      Programming

TV 2 Nyhetskanalen broadcasts from 6:25 am to 5:00 pm from Oslo, and is also responsible for God Morgen Norge's news bulletins every half hour in the morning. From 5:00pm to midnight the network broadcasts from its main office in Bergen.

At any point, the programming can be interrupted for the much-advertised breaking news.

      Weekdays

The network has live broadcast with two anchors in the studio from 6:25am to midnight, but it is manned all night long so that the network can quickly break into its night-schedule for big breaking news events. Its night-schedule consists of Nyhetshjulet ('The News Wheel') which shows news reports from the previous day without an anchored introduction. At all times (except during commercials) there is a news ticker at the bottom of the screen, and today's date and exact time beneath the network's logo.

      Weekends

During the week-ends the network has its own morningshow called Nyhetsfrokost ('BreakfastNews') with live broadcast from 8am to 1pm. The daytime slot is also used for re-runs of the weeks actuality programs and selected documentaries - such as "Korrespondenten" ('The Correspondent'), focusing on a recent international news stories, and "Økonomimagasinet" ('Economy Magazine').

      Breakthrough

Its breakthrough came at 2pm on 13 January 2007, two days before its planned launch date, when the channel had a breaking news report about the environmental disaster outside Fedje, breaking into broadcast on its mother channel TV 2. During this breaking news broadcast, Lene Østby Sævrøy and Espen Fiveland anchored the broadcast.

Terje Svabø and Mah-Rukh Ali lead the first ordinary broadcast on 15 January 2007 at 12 noon.
