Norway has two general speed limits, 50 km/h in dense populated areas, and 80 km/h in sparsely populated areas. On some roads the speed limit is 90 km/h.
On the best motorways in Eastern Norway, the limit is 100 km/h. A 110 km/h limit was proposed, but is not in effect; however, motorists travelling at 110 km/h on these roads are in practice never targeted by police speed controls.
