Named after the pioneer of Space Science & technology in India, this institute was set up to fulfill a dream of the great visionary, Dr.Vikram. A.Sarabhai to mould high quality experts in frontier engineering disciplines. SARABHAI INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY is an Autonomous Self- Financing institution established by the Space Engineers Welfare Society (SEWELS) with the approval from the Government of Kerala. College is affiliated under Cochin University of Science and Technology and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education for graduation as well as postgraduation in engineering.
Campus
The campus, "SARABHAI INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY" is at VELLANAD, a rustic village in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city, 20 km from Central Railway station and 25 km from Airport. A vast stretch of land comprising about 25 acres forms the campus having all the prime infrastructural facilities including class rooms, workshops, hostels, canteen, libraries, fully equipped labs, broadband internet connection, playgrounds etc. With its scenic beauty and virgin surroundings, this typical location gives the right ambiance for this prestigious institution.

Admission
Admissions are carried out on the basis of the ranks obtained in the All Kerala Common Entrance Examinations, conducted by the Controller of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala. The college follows a 50-50 method of admission from both merit and management streams. This prospectus contains the rules and regulations applicable for selection and admission to B.Tech Course in SIST run by SEWELS. 50% of the seats are filled by the Government from the list of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Govt. of Kerala. The remaining 35% of seats are filed by the management from the list of common Entrance Examination and balance 15% from NRIs. The procedure for admission to all seats other than those for the Children/dependents of NRI is also presented. This prospectus is subject to modification/addition/deletion as may be deemed necessary by the Management subject to further orders if any Government/AICTE/CUSAT/Court Law.
Leadership
The academic functioning of the Institute is governed by a body consisting of the management board of the society and a panel of academicians Space Engineers Welfare Society (SEWELS). The members are eminent personalities, philanthropists, renowned scientists and engineers.
