Runway is a 2004 Malayalam film directed by Joshiy and written by Udayakrishna and Siby K. Thomas. It stars Dileep, Indrajith, Murali, Kavya Madhavan, Harisree Ashokan, and Kalasala Babu. The film was produced by V. K. Naushad and Mohan under the banner of N. N. S. Arts and was distributed by Swargachithra.

The film revolves around the youth Unni (Dileep) who due to financial problems becomes the renowned smuggler Valayar Paramasivam in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border check post Walayar.

The film's sequel, Valayar Paramasivam, is announnced.

Plot

The film begins when Gopika (Kavya Madhavan) and her father came to stay in a house where Bharathiyamma stays with her two children Balu Damodar (Indrajith) and Ambili. Bharathiyamma has one more son Unni Damodar who is working in Dubai. Unni (Dileep) tells his family that he is working in Gulf but in reality he runs illegal spirit business with Bhai (Murali) along with Achayan and Achuvettan. He accepts a four-year jail punishment actually the accused was Bhai. Unni, however confesses what he does to Gopika (Kavya Madhavan) who his mother is insistent that he should marry. After leaving the jail Paramasivam realizes that Bhai has been fall into a big debt because of the cheating of Chinnadan (Kalasala Babu) and his Sons. Then Unni again goes to valayar to become Paramasivam and thus saves Bhai and his family from debt with his wicked mind and tricks. He again rules spirit deals in Valayar area. Things change when Unni's brother (Indrajith) becomes a police officer. He gets the transfer in the Valayar area, where Unni and Bhai have become big-time rowdys. In Valayar, Balu tries his level best to catch Valayar Paramasivam (Dileep) by doesn't knowing that he is his brother; but he fails in front of the mind game played by Dileep. This makes Bhai angry with Balu. But Paramasivam tells him to forgive to Balu because he was his brother. By the meantime, Chinadan's kill Bhai's only son Johny and blames Balu as the real killer. This made Bhai very desperate and wants to kill Balu. For that Bhai kidnaps him. By knowing this, Paramasivam goes to save his brother Balu and informing Bhai that the actual killer was CI (Shammi Thilakan) by identifying the ring marks in Johny's face. And the film moves into a climax.

Reception

The film was the second highest grosser of the year 2004. The 5.5 crore budget film have grossed more than 11 crores in 125 days. The film grouped Dileep into Superstar category.
