Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences
The Hogeschool Rotterdam is a University of Applied Sciences located in the city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It was created in 1988 by a large-scale merger of 19 higher education schools followed by a merger with the Hogeschool voor Economische Studies (HES). It holds class at ten locations in Rotterdam and one in neighbouring city Dordrecht. Currently its student population counts more than 30,000. The schools abbreviation is HR. Internationally, the name Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences is used.
Institutes
The university is divided into institutes, each of them having its own director and management. Every course is managed by one of these institutes: Engineering, Information Technology, Commercial Management, Management, Laboratory Courses and Chemical Technology, Service Management, Teacher Program for Primary School, Teacher Program for High School and Professional Education, Media, Paramedics, Social Studies, and the Rotterdam Business School Also the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design is part of the university. This institute offers four-year Master’s programmes in Architecture and Urban Design.
