Rolle College

The former Exmouth Campus of the University of Plymouth

Rolle College was a teacher training college in Exmouth, Devon, England. The college opened in 1949. It later became part of Plymouth University and was closed in 2009, when Plymouth University relocated the campus, its 3000 students and 400 staff to their main campus in Plymouth.[1]

Rolle played a significant part in the life of Exmouth, both economically and socially.[citation needed] The decision to relocate the campus was controversial with past and present students, staff and the local community.[2] Anti-closure demonstrations and campaigns lasted until the relocation, and then stopped.

The last three Students' Union Presidents of Rolle College were Katie Shaw (05/06), Fiona House (06/07) and Michael Austin (07/08).
