Shri Prasanna Acharya (born 8 August 1949)[1] was a member of the 13th,[2] and the 14th Lok Sabha[3] of India. He represented the Sambalpur constituency of Orissa and is a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) political party.
In the elections in May 2009, when both Orissa and India went to the polls, Prasanna Acharya opted to get elected from an Orissa Assembly seat rather than his Parliament Constituency (Sambalpur).
He contested the elections from Redhakhol in Orissa with a BJD ticket and won with a margin of around 10,000 votes than his nearest competitor.
As of today, Acharya holds the post of the Minister of Health in Orissa.[4]
