History
Launch
Play-Asia was established in 2002 in Hong Kong, selling games and accessories for all major current game consoles and computer operating systems. In addition to video games, the site also offers electronic goods, such as products from the Tamagotchi series.
Funding of game development
Play-Asia had funded the development of side-scrolling shooter Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer.[2][3]
Play-Asia suspended EU Sony importing
After the lawsuit against Lik-Sang for importing NTSC-J PS3s and games to the EU, Play-Asia announced that it would no longer be shipping PlayStation products to the EU.[4][5] Regardless of this, Play-Asia still ships PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and as of late 2010, select PlayStation 3 titles to certain parts of Europe.
