Meydavud (Persian: ميداود), formerly Meydavud-e Sofla (ميداودسفلي), also Romanized as Meydāvūd-e Soflá and Meidavood Sofla; also known as Mai Dāūd Pāīn, Meydāvūd-e Pā’īn, and Meydāvūd Pā’īn,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Meydavud District of Bagh-e Malek County, Khuzestan province, Iran.[4] It also serves as the administrative center for Meydavud Rural District.[5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 2,331 in 468 households, as the village of Meydavud-e Sofla in Meydavud Rural District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 3,590 people in 855 households,[7] by which time the village had been elevated to the status of a city and its name changed to Meydavud.[8] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,513 people in 933 households.[2]
