Maurice M. Rapport

Maurice M. Rapport (né Rapoport) (September 23, 1919 Atlantic City - August 18, 2011) was leading biochemist who described the structure of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT).[1]

Life

He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, obtained his bachelor's degree at City College in 1940, and earned his doctorate at Caltech in 1946.

He was a researcher for the Cleveland Clinic, with Irvine Page. He was a Fulbright scholar, at Istituto Superiore di Sanità, where he worked with Daniel Bovet. He was a researcher at Columbia University, the Sloan-Kettering Institute, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He retired in 1986.
