Matthew "Matt" McClung, Jr. was the fifth head football coach for the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen located in Annapolis, Maryland and he held that position for the 1895 season. His coaching record at United States Naval Academy was 5 wins, 2 losses, and 0 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him 28th at United States Naval Academy in total wins and ninth at United States Naval Academy in winning percentage (.714). [1][2]
He was an alumnus of Lehigh University, graduating in mining engineering in the class of 1894.[3] He died in Illinois in 1908.[4][5] The cause was a blood infection from an infected tooth.[6]
