The first season of the Romanian reality television series MasterChef România began on 20 March 2012 and aired on PRO TV. The season was hosted by Răzvan Fodor. At the end of the third episode, which aired on 3 April 2012, the judges had tasted all 55 dishes and given white MasterChef aprons to 41 contestants. In the fourth episode that aired on 10 April 2012, the judges cut that number down to 21 contestants.The winner is Petru Buiucă aged 23 years, took the grand prize of 50.000 euros.

Top 21
After a series of auditions, Top 55 and Top 41 challenges, the Top 21 were revealed on the episode 4. At the first team challenge, it was revealed that Cristian had quit the competition and Alexandru Cârțu, who had been eliminated in the episode 4, was entered as his replacement.
