The MG5 is a small family car, launched by SAIC Motor under the MG marque on 28th March 2012 in China.
According to What Car? in March 2012, the MG5 is 18 months from the United Kingdom release, and will rival the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra.
Codenamed AP12, it shares the same automotive platform with the Roewe 350 saloon car. The MG5 debuted in concept car form at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show as the MG Concept5.
Engine options are expected to include a 100 bhp 1.5 L four-cylinder engine, plus a 1.8 L 133 bhp (99 kW; 135 PS), most likely the TCI-Tech (Upgraded K-Series engine) 1.8 L engine with 133 bhp (99 kW; 135 PS) used in the MG6 GT.
