History edit

Kopani was founded in 1851 under the Russian Empire.

The village came under occupation by Russian forces in 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine phase of the Russo-Ukrainian War shortly before the start of the Battle of Orikhiv on 8 May. In the summer of 2023, Ukrainian forces launched a counteroffensive in an attempt to retake Zaporozhia Oblast; however, it fell short of its objective and did not reach Kopani.[2] As of May 2024, positional fighting was still ongoing in and around Robotyne, a hamlet just east of Kopani.
