Kavikkuyil, Kavikuyil or Kavi Kuyil (Tamil: கவிக்குயில்) is a 1977 Tamil film directed by Devaraj Mohan and starring Sivakumar, Sridevi and Rajnikanth.[1]Fatafat Jayalakshmi plays Rajnikanth's love interest. Sridevi plays the younger sister of Rajinikanth. The film was shot under the S. P. T. Films banner and produced by S. P. Tamizharasi. The film premiered on July 29, 1977.

Synopsis

Kavikkuyil is the story of Sivakumar and Sridevi who loves each other. Rajnikanth is the brother of Sridevi. He is loved by Jayalakshmi, but he does not reciprocate. The lovers, Sivakumar and Sridevi gets intimate and later Sivakumar face an accident on a stormy night and loses memory. Now the pregnant Sridevi is still waiting for Sivakumar. Will Rajinkanth approves his sister's relationship? Will Sivakumar regains his memory? Will Jayalakshmi wins over Rajnikanth form the climax.

Music

The film has music scored by Ilaiyaraaja, who got established as a leading composer in Tamil cinema with this film.[2] The lyrics of the songs are written by Panchu Arunachalam. The song "Chinna Kannan Azhaikkiraan", set in Reethigowla raga and sung by Balamurali Krishna became popular.[3] Playback singer Sujatha Mohan made her Tamil debut with the song "Kaadhal Oviyam Kandein", set in Hameer Kalyani raga.[4]
