KETD, channel 53, is a television station based near Centennial, Colorado. Its city of license is Castle Rock, Colorado, serving the Denver market on digital channel 46 (virtual channel 53).

History

The station signed on July 1, 1990 as KWHD, a LeSEA owned-and-operated station. As of 2008, KWHD claimed to be "the only full-time, commercial, independent TV station in Colorado." Its broadcast schedule was split 40%/60% between family-friendly, secular entertainment programming, Christian religious, and local sports programming. [1]

KWHD's broadcasts have been digital-only since January 16, 2009.[2]

LeSEA announced the sale of KWHD to Liberman Broadcasting in 2010; the station switched to Liberman's Estrella TV network, under new call letters KETD, after the sale is completed.[3] KWHD's previous programming remains available on KETD's second digital subchannel, as well as former semi-satellite KWHS-LP in Colorado Springs (which LeSEA continues to own).
