James Lawrence Smith
James Lawrence Smith was the co-owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers of the National League from 1944 until his death in 1950. In 1944, he purchased his 25% share of the club from James Mulvey and Dearie Mulvey (along with Walter O'Malley and Branch Rickey). His wife inherited his 25% share of the Dodgers, acting as a minority owner under Walter O'Malley. She sold her share to O'Malley and the Mulveys in 1958.
