Jaihind (transl. Victory to India!) is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language action war film written and directed by Arjun. The film stars him and Ranjitha. It was released on 20 May 1994,[2] and became a commercial success.[3] A spiritual successor titled Jaihind 2, also starring Arjun, was released in 2014.[4]

ACP Bharath is a police officer with high patriotic image. His brother Sriram was in an encounter with a terrorist group, which is responsible for the death of Tamil Nadu's current Chief Minister. He has love interest with his colleague, Inspector Priya. Priya's father is also a nationalist political leader who supports Arjun. The Government decide to destroy the terrorist group. Arjun, Priya along with some condemned prisoners move to a remote island to nab the terrorist group.

The film was produced on a budget of ₹3 crore (equivalent to ₹20 crore or US$2.5 million in 2023).[1]
Soundtrack edit
The music was composed by Vidyasagar, with lyrics written by Vairamuthu.[5] The song "Thaayin Mani Kodi" remains hugely popular and is still played during Independence Day.[6]

Reception edit
K. Vijiyan of New Straits Times wrote, "The strong family theme helps prop up all the action scenes and makes it different from just another Rambo-style movie."[7] R. P. R. of Kalki wrote that Arjun has done a one man show like Seshan, but felt that Arjun has messed up in aspects like music, calling it torture, keeping lengthy dialogues and the poor choice of actor as antagonist. He concluded that one must appreciate the makers the fact that they have made a point, but sighed at the fact that they did not know how to convey it.[8]
