Clicking the Image edit

Err. Clicking that image (like it says) does nothing whatsoever... :S

GoddersUK 15:15, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It will take you to the image page and scroll down to read "If you are seeing this image." User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:31, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
How about a redirect like Image:Replace this image1.svg ? --Geniac 13:17, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure for right now. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 15:04, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It says "the following image" but there is no "following image" as far as I can tell. — The Storm Surfer 07:47, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The following image is supposed to stand for the image that is removed. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 07:51, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
But does the removed image somehow follow this image? — The Storm Surfer 08:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Typo edit

The "In" shouldn't be capitalized. --Tewy 17:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Very, uh, authoritative... edit

"If a non-free image has been replaced with this image, it means the use of that image was not appropriate. Do not re-add the removed image, you will be reverted and possibly blocked."

No, it doesn't. It means that the user doing the replacing believes that the use was not appropriate. They are not necessarily correct - we're all humans, after all. The description should, at the very least, link to something on how to dispute the action properly (rather than a revert war and threats of banning). — ceejayoz talk 02:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wrong edit

I believe that this image contradicts Wikipedia policy. The policy is to use fair-use (non-free) images where there is no free alternative, not to remove any and all non-free content just because it is non-free. Omegatron's page has more information on this problem. Ian01 19:46, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't the one who named the image, but I hope the text on the image and the text below it should clarify why the image is here. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 07:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

So... edit

...if you add a missing or vandalicly removed fair use rationale and restore the image, you'll be "reverted and possibly blocked" ?! 68.39.174.238 02:35, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

No. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:07, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Forget the image... edit

Forget the image and let's focus on the subjet matter.

1. Forbes reference link does not or no longer exist...why? 2. No other reliable references are available, each reference uses the other as a reference, and hence the circle of deception is complete 3. A lot of the mentioned information in the article is incorrect, yet, no one has bothered to edit it as of yet

Double negative edit

The sentence which explains the policy of non-free images disallowed outside of article space contains a double negative ("doesn't not"). Spicy 19:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

And I used too many colons. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 01:48, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikilink in Image edit

No offense but it seems pretty stupid to have a wiki-link in the image text. (...Our Policy at WP:NFCC...) Peachey88 (Talk Page | Contribs) 08:09, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I included it because of two reasons; if the image is displayed in full, they can just type in the shortcut and I been asked before to include that wikilink. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 08:13, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Large Talk:something/temp articles are a pain in the colon edit

"If you are writing a draft article that will have fair use images in it once it reaches the article space, you can simply add a colon to it."

Which likely breaks the layout of the article, even when the layout of the article is under discussion. So if I'm prototyping an article about a non-free work of authorship such as a video game, which almost by necessity must include a non-free illustration, does this mean I can just make a copy of the image and paste a diagram of the large intestine over it to mark the image as temporary, making it suitable for the Talk:*/temp namespace? --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 15:16, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You could use a placeholder image too. For talk pages, just use the colon method that was written about. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:39, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use in articles edit

Image

When this image is used in an article, such as in Template:Zamboanga_del_Sur, the meaning of the icon is not immediately clear: It just looks like a gray copyright symbol with a bunch of lines running across it.

File:NonFreeImageRemoved With Triangle.svg

I think this icon would be easier to understand at small sizes if it had a warning triangle on it, such as on my quick draft here. Perhaps some form of this modification would be a good for this placeholder? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nandhp (talkcontribs) 17:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll upload your version now. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 23:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please edit

Could you please remove the "Thank you"? This is nothing to be thankful about! 58.168.147.119 (talk) 10:01, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

As I understand it, it's short for "Thank you [for your time in reading this and for assuming good faith]." --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 14:39, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

"warning" triangle edit

Could the triangle be replaced with Image:Nuvola apps important.svg or something similar in quality (if you care to keep this public domain instead of GPL). --Thinboy00 @160, i.e. 02:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

With the scaling, I think the shading on the icon will make it just a hard to notice. I was specifically asked to use the current icon. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:21, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request edit

editprotected If you found the above image on a page, it is because a non-free image has been replaced by this image. For legal reasons and with respect to our goal to be a free content encyclopedia, Wikipedia only allows the use of non-free images in a select few cases. If a non-free image has been replaced with this image, it means the use of that image was not appropriate. Do not re-add the removed image, you will be reverted and possibly blocked. For more information on the limited cases where non-free images may be used in Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Non-free content.

Category:Wikipedia image placeholders edit

editprotected

Since this is an image placeholder, please place on the bottom of the image page. Thanks. GregManninLB (talk) 14:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Y Done. The current description of that category doesn't fit exactly with this image, but close enough. --David Göthberg (talk) 01:03, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wordiness edit

The text of this image is massively wordy in redundant ways. Wordiness discourages attention (and reduces the size of the text which may be used). May I suggest shortening it to: An automated process has removed an image from here. Most likely, it violated the policy WP:NFCC which prohibits "fair use" images from being used outside of articles. To avoid further removals, follow the suggestions on this image's page. Thank you. --Nat Gertler (talk) 22:08, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Found this image for an *audio* media that had been removed edit

There something incoherent, this sound has been removed and the message talks about an image. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Wanted: Unemployed Insomniac Nicolas1981 (talk) 02:51, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The wording needs to be changed to state "image or audio file". Also, the "Image:" namespace is now "File:", so that should be changed as not all files uploaded to Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Commons are images. Instructing someone to change to :Image:Sample of song.ogg just doesn't look right. --Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 04:09, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The "following" image? edit

As far as I can tell, no image follows other than the image itself. This ought to be reworded to clarify the referent. Skomorokh 15:18, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Warning symbol edit

editprotected I tried to do this myself, but the page was locked, so I uploaded my version at File:NonFreeImageRemoved2.svg. Basically, i figure the Nuvola icon looks better than the generic warning sign. Requesting the version at File:NonFreeImageRemoved2.svg be uploaded as a new version of this image. Mnmazur (talk)

The Nuvola icons are not public domain, hence your new file is not public domain. --- RockMFR 07:31, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
According to the desciption on commons, it's free. So I don't think I understand the issue here. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:28, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please could you fix the copyright licence on File:NonFreeImageRemoved2.svg and then replace the editprotected. Thanks, — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:53, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bad grammar edit

'to be used outside of articles' is bad grammar - the 'of' is redundant. It doesn't create a very good impression if an official Wikipedia statement uses decidedly non-encyclopedic, colloquial language. (Besides, the previous sentence reads 'used outside an article' so it isn't even internally consistent, bad grammar or no!) 81.159.89.70 (talk) 16:14, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

who cares? edit

It's a picture. How does it hurt putting it in a page. The only people who care about copyrights is most of Wikipedia. Joseph507357 00:50, 26 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph507357 (talkcontribs)
