Any map is a lot of work...

Having said that, grey is a poor choice for the Irish Sea, North Sea, Thames Estuary. It took me close to a minute of puzzling to figure out the scale of this map.

Then I scrolled down, and saw the earlier versions that showed the entire shape of England, Cornwall, Wales. Why the more detailed view? Geo Swan (talk) 00:08, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The earlier maps used modern counties and are therefore inaccurate.. The current map is based on the Tribal Hidage and shows detailed internal boundaries, as described in Sarah Zaluckyj & Marge Feryok, Mercia: The Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Central England (2001). ðarkuncoll 00:14, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can only agree about the choice of colour. I was very confused as to what this map represented until I realised grey was sea and white land - the other way around would've caused no such problem. 88.105.93.3 (talk) 22:03, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
