It doesn't matter what YOU think... Read WP:NOR. Kosovo has not been recognized as an independent state by the UN, so it should not be on this map. BytEfLUSh (talk) 01:21, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

West Germany/Saarland

The map shows the Saarland as part of West Germany joining the NATO in 1955, imo this is not correct. Saarland joined the Federal Republic of Germany on January 1st, 1957 on the same legal basis as East Germany (article 23 of the Basic Law) and if the map shows the East German territory joing in 1990 the same must be applied to Saarland (-> joining in 1957) or the whole of today Germany must be marked as "joined in 1955". --Asdf01 (talk) 13:18, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Interesting point. I hadn't thought about the Saarland in terms of this. I might note that, since the Saar protectorate was under French control prior to reverting to the FRG, one could argue that the Saarland joined NATO in 1949 with France. Still, its a minor issue, and I am reluctant to create a new color level just for this one small area.-- Patrick, _oѺ^∞ 14:22, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
