I was serving with 36 Engineer Group under UNPROFOR in GV in 1994, We were based in the old TOM factory. I have to say that the town itself was in a right state, but considering this, the people from all sides just seemed to be getting on with life as best they could, although you could still feel the underlying tensions. I managed to get involved with one of the local schools (muslim) and they ended up corresponding with my own daughters school back here in the uk, I became quite friendly with a muslim family through the school and on a couple of occaisions I was invited around for tea and was really moved by the hospitality I was shown, considereng the limited resources of the family concerned. i am afraid I cannot remember the family name, but I think the two daughters were called Tia and Mia. Although it was a really bad time for the town then I really do hope they have all managed to rebuild their lives (and the town) as one day I would like to re-visit with my own family — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baldygob (talkcontribs)
