Summary

Description
English: William Harley (1767-1829) was a textile manufacturer in Glasgow who helped develop the New Town of Blythswood, and also set up a number of extensive businesses in the 1800s from this corner of the expanding Glasgow, including developing indoor swimming baths, selling water, milk and bread. In 1921, the centenary of Harley creating Blythswood Square, this plaque was placed on a building that subsequently occupied that corner.
