English: Whirlwind Mark I, P6997, in flight, loaded with two 500-lb GP bombs on underwing racks while undergoing fighter-bomber trials at the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. P6997 subsequently saw operational service with Nos. 137 and 263 Squadrons RAF.
