English: Weaponry and Nazi Swastika flags of the convicts of the Trial of Neumann and Sass.
The Trial of Neumann and Sass (the Kaunas Trials) took place from 24 December 1934 to 26 March 1935 in the Court of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. It was the first and largest mass trial of Nazis in the early 1930s. The trial resulted in convictions of the leaders of regional Nazi parties, Theodor von Sass, Ernst Neumann, and other party members for their activities in the Klaipėda Region. Despite requests for a secret trial from Nazi Germany and urging from the states of the Entente, some of the trial's 69 hearings were held publicly in Kaunas. The convicted Nazis were sentenced to capital punishment or penal labor, but none of the executions were carried out due to foreign pressure. Lithuania later granted amnesty to all convicts before they had completed their sentences.
