TOBEY WAS HEAD OF THE SENATE INTERSTATE AND FOREIGN COMMERCE COMMITTEE.HIS POINTED WITTICISMS,HIS SHARP SALLIES,AND HIS FIERY PRONOUNCEMENTS ON THE WICKEDNESS OF CRIME BROUGHT HIM NATIONAL PROMINENCE AS MILLIONS WATCHED HIS CRIME COMMITTEE'S SESSIONS ON TELEVISION,HEADED BY SENATOR ESTES KEFAUVER(D),TENNESSEE, FROM MAY 10TH ,1950 TO AUGUST 30TH,1952.
