Summary

Description
English: ROTA, Spain. Aircraft assigned to the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command are on the flight line at Naval Station Rota, Spain. Naval Station Rota and nearby Moron Air Base absorbed many U.S. military flights that were diverted from Northern European routes due to ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland. The number of daily flights arriving at Naval Station Rota, typically eight to 13, doubled over the weekend. Moron Air Base, which averages one or two flights a day, has seen a ten-fold increase.
