The Tennessee State Capitol is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Tennessee, serving as home of the Tennessee General Assembly and the location of the governor's office. Designed by architect William Strickland (1788–1854) of Philadelphia and Nashville, who is buried with the building, it was built between 1845 and 1859.
