English: Service members from all branches celebrated the Minnesota Vikings’ Military Appreciation Day at the University of Minnesota Field on Nov. 23, 2014. Recognized were members of the 114th Transportation Company – recently returned from Afghanistan – who unfurled the large flag, ran the Red Bull flag with the Vikings’ Flag Runners and marched onto the field to report to Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Richard C. Nash, and Senior Enlisted Advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Douglas Wortham. Additionally, Sgt. Thomas Block, 2014 Army Times Soldier of the Year, blew the Gjallarhorn after a joint color guard and all-branches flag presentation were displayed on the field during the singing of the National Anthem by two service members – Airman 1st Class Brooke Colby and Staff Sgt. Ryan Ringwelski. Also recognized were three WWII veterans – Capt. Ted Homdrom, Cpl. Wayne DeVries and Quartermaster 3rd Class Bill Ringold – in addition to Sgt. Baxley, who recently saved a man from a burning vehicle, and 1st Sgt. Robert Renning, who also saved a man from a burning vehicle.
