Summary

Description
English: Stone Abutment for the Old Queensferry Bridge This massive stone structure is just west of the blue bascule bridge, which is just behind the camera. The first bridge at Queensferry was supported on this abutment, but was demolished when the blue bridge was built in 1926. The small building on top of the structure is associated with the row of houses that are built alongside the old roadway. The River Dee is on the right, and in the far distance is the Hawarden Bridge railway bridge that crosses the river at Shotton.
